Melanie Hamburger volunteered to teach a 2-part online class for the YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley as part of their afternoon Job Club. The class provides an overview of nonprofits, and how your lived experience translates to jobs they need.
Students
The YWCA offers amazing programs to help people over 50 transition into rewarding jobs. Since 2021, Melanie has volunteered to teach for YWCA, providing tips and tricks in nonprofit job searches, and encouragement and coaching. Community Grantwriters has provided paid internships for several former students from these YWCA classes.
This Class
Did you know there are 1,800 non-profits in Marin County? This class shared resources to learn how to find the right non-profit for you. Over a dozen students participated in group and breakout discussion on the practical skills they have that can serve critical roles for nonprofits. Another advantage of those changes careers or returning to work is that we have lots of maturity and resourcefulness in managing with calm and grace just about anything that comes up on a daily basis.
Melanie previously facilitated YWCA 50+ grantwriting and fundraising classes that attracted the largest
Job Club attendance ever!
The YWCA described the class as “not to be missed if you have any desire to work at a non-profit.”
